Citizenship test: where to find official information and how to avoid scams

Published

Many websites now write about the new citizenship test. Only Migri can tell you the dates, the price and how to register. Here is how to tell official information from the rest.

Who is responsible for the test

The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) organises the tests. The University of Helsinki prepares the content of the test.

No other company or organisation runs the official test.

Where the official study material will be

Migri says the study material will be openly available on its website. It is expected around the turn of the year 2026–2027.

You do not need to buy the official material from anyone.

What has not been published yet

  • The test dates and how to register.
  • The test fee.
  • The number of questions and the pass mark.

If someone gives exact answers to these questions today, ask where the information comes from.

Warning signs

  • Someone sells test places or a "guaranteed" test date before Migri opens registration.
  • Someone sells "the real test questions". The official questions are not public.
  • Someone promises that you will pass, or that you can skip the test for a fee.
  • A website or message asks for your passport number or bank codes to "reserve" a test.

About practice sites, including this one

Practice sites like Koevalmis write their own questions from public sources. They are not official Migri questions. A good practice site tells you this clearly and links to its sources.

This page is general information, not legal advice. If you are unsure, check the information on Migri's own website.
